Information about the History of Newport Beach
The city of Newport Beach is located in Orange County, California. Orange County was once a Spanish outpost, and it is now one of the most populated counties in California. Orange County features fantastic weather, with a generally temperate climate throughout the year.
Newport Beach was initially incorporated in 1906, and features two piers - the Balboa Pier, and the Newport Pier, and the largest harbor located in Orange County. The Dory Fishing Fleet is one of America's last beach side fishing cooperatives, and is located right next to the Newport Pier in Newport Beach.
Areas of Newport Beach
Newport Beach offers many different areas for Newport Beach luxury homes that are unique, and offer a great and active lifestyle. From living on the beach to living in beautiful homes with a spectacular view, Newport Beach offers an area for all.
The areas of Newport Beach include Balboa Island, which is actually two islands that are located within Newport Harbor. There is interesting Balboa Island history as well. There are beautiful Balboa Island homes located on the interior, as well as on the water. The homes on the water may include a dock for different sized boats depending upon where the home is located. And of course, there are different ocean and bay views depending on where you live on Balboa Island. A great way to view Balboa Island real estate is to walk the island on the boardwalk on both the main island and the little island. Also, located on Balboa Island is the infamous Balboa Island Ferry. This Balboa Island ferry was originated in 1909. This is a three car ferry which transports vehicles, people and their bicycles to and from Balboa Island and the Balboa Peninsula.
Another area of Newport Beach, is the Balboa Peninsula. The Balboa Peninsula features areas such as Peninsula Point - and has beautiful Newport Beach Luxury Homes located on the Newport Harbor Bay as well as on the sands of beautiful Newport Beach. Peninsula Point is the end of the peninsula and this is where the infamous "Wedge" is located. Due to the orientation, the Wedge can have very treacherous surf. And it can be extremely dangerous for an inexperienced swimmer, surfer or body boarder. However, it is a site to see, and view the big waves in Newport Beach. The Newport Beach Lifeguards are able to provide information to the visitors regarding the surf and swim conditions.
Located off the Balboa Peninsula is another truly unique area of Newport Beach called Bay Island. This is a very small pedestrian island with no vehicles at all. Bay Island in Newport Beach has tremendous charm.
One of the best kept secrets in Newport Beach is Cherry Lake. Cherry Lake is located in Santa Ana Heights area of Newport Beach. This secluded and serene area of Newport Beach features Newport Beach Luxury Homes with a views of beautiful Cherry Lake.
Another area of Newport Beach is Bay Shores. This is a gated community which is located right off Pacific Coast Highway and features spectacular Newport Beach luxury homes. Bay Shores has over 250 homes that are in this area. Once again there are beautiful Newport Beach luxury homes located in Bay Shores. The homes on the water may also feature a dock as well.
Newport Shores is an undiscovered area of Newport Beach. This area has approximately 400 homes and is across Coast Highway from Newport's finest beaches. Many of the homes in this area were built in the 1960's, however these homes are continually being upgraded, remodeled and rebuilt. Newport Shores is located on the Canal area of Newport Beach, and there is a preserve so it is a lovely place to enjoy the wildlife. Also, Newport Shores in Newport Beach has a community clubhouse, and community Olympic size pool. There are spectacular swim programs for the children, and Newport Shores features a swim team. The Newport Shores clubhouse has recently been remodeled, and has hot showers as well. Newport Shores in Newport Beach also has a community tennis court, sand volleyball court, basketball court and great activities including a fourth of July parade. There is also a large barbecue area as well so the residents of Newport Shores can entertain in that area.
Lido Island in Newport Beach features Newport Beach Luxury Homes. Lido Island also features homes that are located on the interior as well as on the water. Lido Island has approximately 860 homes. The Lido Island Bay Front homes have docks and many beautiful boats as well. Lido Island features luxury homes and a lifestyle to be enjoyed by all .There is also a yacht club and there are sailing lessons for children on Lido Island in Newport Beach. There are also tennis courts available for the residents to utilize. The children of this area attend Newport Elementary School which is one of the only schools in the United States which is located on the beach - literally - the children have the beach as a playground.
Dover Shores/Westcliff Area of Newport Beach offers single family homes in a fantastic school district that features the award winning Mariner's Elementary School and the Newport Beach Public Library. There are beautiful single family homes in the Dover Shores area, many of which have been remodeled and upgraded. These Newport Beach luxury homes are in a great community and walking distance to restaurants, shopping and coffee.
Corona del Mar
Corona del Mar is located south of Newport Beach along Coast highway and along the front of the Pacfiic Ocean and backs up to the San Joaquin hills.
